A man gone to seed who's a much better prostitute than he is producer, an accountant with a disturbing attachment to his childhood blankie, and a blindingly blonde Swedish woman with a dream of being a star are unexpectedly bought together to create the most outrageous musical of all time.
"Fading Broadway producer Max Bialystok (played by Alan Committie) is desperate to get to the top of his profession again, and finds an unlikely ally in mousy accountant Leo Bloom (Richard White), who predicts that one could make far more money with a flop of a show than with a hit. Together, the two set out to produce the worst musical ever to hit Broadway. Unfortunately for them, their show is a huge hit!"
Led by one of the country's favorite funnymen, and bought to life by a cast of South African musical theatre powerhouses and new faces in the industry alike, Pieter Toerien's production of The Producers is a recipe for raucous laughter. The show features some earworms of note and exposes audiences to a fair amount of Broadway-style tap dance; something we hardly see on local stages.
A show that offends literally everyone in all the best ways possible, The Producers is a must see!
