It's been 25 years since the first post-apartheid elections, yet the people of South Africa still feel residual divides between one another daily. In this new play, we're given an objective look at a quarter century of change.

Kunene and The King is written by John Kani (The Island, Sizwe Banzi is Dead, Black Panther) as an examination of what happens when 2 men of contrasting walks of life are unexpectedly thrust together. This groundbreaking production is expertly directed by Janice Honeyman (The Tempest,…Missing, Nothing But The Truth, Hello and Goodbye, The Fugard Theatre’s production of The Mother) in a sensitive way which brings out the best in actors John Kani and Anthony Sher.

"Director Janice Honeyman lets each scene develop in its own time, lifting meandering conversations with a good dose of gallows humour to get the most out of the play’s wrenching emotional shifts" - The Stage
