A stellar cast of some of the country's best performers present the second run of Alice Gillham's new musical, Calling Us Home, under the direction of Magdalene Minnaar. This new production is an African story of love, hope, and home.

Join Grace (Lynelle Kenned), who flees her war-torn home and gives up everything to find a new beginning with a group of immigrants who share a similar story. In this new found community, the characters must defend one another from a ruthless gang lord and, along the way, Grace discovers the true meaning of home.

"It’s a story that we all know. It’s lost love, lost home, people being uprooted, forced migration which I think is a huge topic at the moment." - Director Magdalene Minnaar, for Sarafina Magazine.

After premiering at the Joburg Theatre on 17 August 2017, the musical returns with a new cast and plenty of acclaim. After having audiences on their feet night after night, we have no doubt that this production will be a smashing success in Cape Town!

“This production, 100% local, is one of the finest gems ever produced on an SA Stage. It weaves different cultures, different musical genres, into one classical masterpiece… the music and powerful lyrics are a huge force in this production and make for an unforgettable theatrical experience.”
